Ok, guys. Rant journal coming up.
*
First, I feel you guys should know my thoughts here. And Im sorry if I offend anyone...but this really isnt directed to anyone in particular, its just my opinion and I hope some of you will agree.

*
Second, well, from now on, if people do not give a reason
why they like a piece of my work in a comment, I am going to ask them
why. ^_^ And sure, you might like the subject of the piece, but there is always more to it than that. If you +fav something just because LOL ITS MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER FROM ANIME then...sorry but wtf? O_o Cmon, shading, detail, background, anatomy, colours...theres lots you can say, not only in a comment, but in your head. Theres always more to liking something that just the subject of it. ;D
Even something as simple as
this is nice a thing to hear. The person tells me exactly what they like about the piece, so I feel proud of that part.
Admittedly, a comment like
this is even nicer, as it goes far more in depth of the piece, even though it is still a short comment.
I love comments like these two mentioned, either way. Thanks guys!

The ones I dislike, are the one word ones, or comments on pictures which seem to have been faved just because theyre a wolf. Oh joy. :/
*
Third...MAIN RANT: CRITICISM AND CRITIQUE.This is because of many comments Ive had lately.
For example:
Wow, thats nice but -thing- looks weird.
Cool, I like the -thing- but the -thing- looks really odd.
K, how nice for you.
But I honestly dont care if you just write that.

It is CRITICISM.
AKA: Disapproval of the piece. Not CRITIQUE.
AKA: A review of the piece, telling people how they can get better at some parts, how theyre improving at others, etc.Its annoying, most of the time, and very disrespectful. Not just to me, but to any other artist who receives a comment like that. Youre basically telling the artist OH U SUCK LOLOLOL!!!.
Yes, even if youre polite about it and give a slightly positive remark within the comment, it is almost
always taken the wrong way.
Why?
This is the internet, not real life. People only have
text to go on, no expressions, tone of voice, nothing. Zip. Nadda.
The artist will most likely be rude to you if you place a criticising comment like this. I do not blame them, personally. So dont get offended, just re-think what you wrote in the first place to cause this.
REMEMBER: Were only responding. We didnt write the bad comment to start with.

I read *
nestlys journal (Here:
[link]) today, particularly the part on
Non-Constructive Criticism
Now, Im just going to copy/paste this, for those who are too lazy to find it on your own.
To avoid having an artist snap at you or get all defensive when you were trying to help, try following these three basic guidelines.
#1-For every negative comment, give two positive comments.
#2-Go into detail with your criticism! I know this may not seem like a good idea, but the more an artist knows how they could fix or make better they're art, the less they can get on your back about it, and understand where your coming from.
#3-Make sure you give helpful hints, if you have any. Before you say, "The hand looks bad." Try, "The hand looks a little off, maybe try pointing the fingers more and making it a little bigger?" Remember, this is the best way to help an artist and for them to notice you helping.IF I DONT KNOW
WHY YOU THINK SOMETHING IS ODD, WEIRD OR OFF...
Then guess what.
I cant do anything about it.

The same goes to everyone else. If they dont know, they cant change.
I care not, if youre just trying to help. Because unless I can
read that youre trying to help, I will not be polite to you. Guaranteed.

So please, if you have the time, do read ALL of *
nestlys journal.
OH AND ONE LAST THING! CHECK IF CRITIQUE IS WANTED BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE. THE DEVIATIONS I RECEIVED CRAP COMMENTS ON ALL HAVE CRITIQUE NOT DESIRED ABOVE THE COMMENTS BOX. READING ISNT DIFFICULT GUYS, SERIOUSLY.You learn to read when youre like...4. Or below. Luls.
And its only 3 words you gotta read. Cmon, people!
Use the skill, eh? It comes in handy, really.

K, thx for reading. I love you lots if you read all that.

That is all. Feel free to be all LOL I H8 U at me. I need something/someone to laugh at right now. 8D
I assure you that if you abide by the things I have stated here and in *nestlys journal, people will like you. Lots.

I guess we just want to know exactly what people think is 'cool'. I mean, sure, I'm very grateful to recieve a comment, it's far nicer than just a fav alone. ^_^
It's just nice to know exactly why they faved/commented, so you can keep doing like...for example, eyes the same. ^.^

However, if you see something that needs critique, and doesn't have a critique discouraged label on it, go for it 8D
But remember not to criticise! ;D

Escpially the Why you do/dont like something, becuase if some one says "oh cool" you're obviously going to think that they havent really considered what theyre saying or why it's 'cool'.
Anyways I hope everyone listens (and i hope iv not done what youre ranting about, o__o but i cant remember doing so.. ) and ill go read Nestly's journal now. xD

D: I'll try to cut down on the horridly stark comments
I'll try and write more intresting stuff, but it'll probibly end up sounding dumb
And I don't mind that you used a snippet of mine. (Heaven knows you gave me enough credit. xD)
So that's your answer. :3 Sorry I'm too lazy to reply back to the note too, nyeheh.
And I read through this and it's pretty good. :3 Here's to a DeviantArt world of consructive criticism!

As much as I feel honored to get my work faved I'd rather see comments. I mean a fav is a fab thing but tell me why you like the piece and what captured your eye. Critiques are more than welcome as well!
And when commenting your works if I'm too lazy to write a comment I won't fav the piece either because I don't want to get bitten 8'D But usually I try to comment at my best, if I give a crappy comment I feel like I didn't let you know how much I love the piece
